Job Description

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for an Assistant Director of Athletics Compliance. This is a full-time (probationary and FLSA-exempt) position which includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 225 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of Athletics Compliance is responsible for providing assistance to the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance for the purpose of developing a system of compliance to ensure the University has institutional control of its Athletics program and all related activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of one year of progressive experience in a NCAA compliance setting at an institutional, conference or national association level and a working knowledge of compliance management processes, issues, considerations and solutions;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill with demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of effective and creative rules education and training sessions;
  • Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
  • Working knowledge and ability to:
    • Utilize NCAA software such as LSDBi, Compliance Assistant and RSRO;
    • Demonstrate extensive proficiency in using basic office support software (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets).
    • Work effectively in a highly regulated team environment.

Desired qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and the ability to:
    • Utilize online compliance management systems such as Teamworks (please specify).
    • Utilize social media software and manage content (please specify media experience).
    • Meet or exceed customer service needs and expectations with permissible alternative solutions within the intent of the rules.
  • Demonstrated compliance management experience with a high-profile sport and confidential information in a high-pressure environment.
