Rate: Up to $40hr depending on experience level

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) with experience in networking and clinical systems integration to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medical devices and their connectivity within a clinical network. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biomedical equipment repair along with expertise in IT networking, medical device integration, and cybersecurity best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, inspect, calibrate, and repair biomedical equipment, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and manufacturer specifications.
• Configure and troubleshoot networked medical devices, including integration with hospital IT systems and electronic health records (EHR).
• Work closely with clinical staff, IT teams, and medical device vendors to ensure seamless connectivity and interoperability of medical equipment.
• Maintain and update network configurations, IP addresses, VLANs, and device security protocols for biomedical equipment.
• Perform regular cybersecurity assessments on medical devices to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other industry regulations.
• Assist with the implementation of new medical technologies and support wireless medical device infrastructure.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and ensure patient safety.
• Document repairs, network configurations, and maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Train clinical and technical staff on proper equipment usage and connectivity troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, IT, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a BMET in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Networking knowledge (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, Wi-Fi, HL7, DICOM, PACS, VPN, and medical device integration).
• Experience with networked medical devices, including patient monitors, infusion pumps, and imaging systems.
