Hybrid Telework Opportunity

The Compliance Officer (CO), Health Facilities Construction (HFC) evaluates the seismic compliance programs of general acute care facilities and compliance deadline extension requests to comply with the requirements of the Hospital Facilities Seismic Safety Act. The CO, HFC also performs the construction compliance phase of projects and observes the construction of healthcare facilities as required to ensure work is performed in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications approved by Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) and in compliance with Title 24, California Code of Regulations (CCRs) (including all referenced codes and standards there within), the Office’s Policy Intent Notices, Code Application Notices and other applicable codes, guidelines and policies, and other reference materials consistent with the CO’s training and experience.

This position is subject to the Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests filing requirements, which requires disclosure of certain personal economic interests as determined by the Conflict of Interest Code of the Department of Health Care Access and Information. Pursuant to Government Code section 81008, Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests is public record and will be made available for public inspection.

Working Conditions

HCAI offers a hybrid telework schedule with a combination of remote and in-office work schedules for CA residents only. The telework policy is subject to change, and additional in-office days may be required and/or minimal notification may be given to report to the worksite if an urgent need arises. Special Requirements

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Knowledge of Title 24 and the ability to handle code enforcement issues with health care industry professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle stressful or sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Working knowledge of computers and applicable software programs.
  • Ability to direct, review and evaluate the work of others.
  • Experience in entering and managing complex data within project tracking systems, including reviewing, updating, and ensuring the accuracy of information related to regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in analyzing critical data, developing complex ad-hoc reports, and presenting findings in user-friendly formats for executive and management use.
  • Experience for construction projects.
  • Experience performing technical evaluation of construction documents.
  • Experience working with clients, contractors, and other technical staff.
  • Good writing and oral communication skills.
