Distribution Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will direct and oversee warehouse and distribution activities to meet established operational standards, while promoting and evaluating the development of department employees. This position can oversee Distribution Supervisors for a Distribution Center spanning several work shifts.

Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

  • Working with the VP of Operations, ensure daily, weekly, and monthly goals within the distribution facility are achieved.
  • Focus on Operational Excellence
  • Ensure daily work is performed in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • In collaboration with the VP of Operations, implement distribution center programs that deliver continuous improvements in efficiency
  • Leverage systems inquiry, available data and reporting, and visual inspection to monitor available workload throughout the day
  • With the Distribution Supervisors, create work schedules that optimize each processing area and ensure all daily orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and within service level standards
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs in the overall enhancement of inventory integrity and the effective coordination of warehouse functions and activities
  • In collaboration with the VP of Operations, resolve issues and optimize flow within the distribution pipeline from vendor to customer
  • Ensure a cross-trained workforce is available for redeployment to alternate areas, as required, based on fluctuating business demands
  • Leverage available audit and accuracy reporting to identify and correct performance shortfalls that compromise quality execution
  • Partner with management in resolving issues and reducing errors
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection of new hires
  • Lead regular meetings with direct reports and distribution team members, as required
  • Coach and monitor the development of distribution center Supervisors, providing performance feedback
  • Clearly communicate goals, expectations, and specific directions to ensure direct reports successfully execute their respective roles in delivering value to our customers
  • Document, review, investigate and respond to employee needs, concerns and questions
  • Follow and uphold all OSHA guidelines, policies and safety regulations, inspecting physical condition of the warehouse and equipment
  • Report and document all equipment issues and safety related incidents to senior management
  • Partner with Sr. Operations Manager and Facilities Management to resolve safety issues

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of supervisory experience in a warehouse/distribution environment
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems
  • General PC applications
  • MS Office applications

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or minimum 10 years’ experience in an operations setting
  • Warehouse Management System software
  • At least one year of managing exempt level associates in a warehouse/distribution environment

For US Candidates

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $80,000 to $105,000.

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan.
