The Marvin Group, a leading defense contractor, plays a crucial role in the development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles. Based in Southern California near the Los Angeles International Airport, The Marvin Group consists of Marvin Engineering (MEC), Marvin Test Solutions (MTS) and Marvin Land Systems (MLS). Marvin Engineering designs and produces military Alternate Mission Equipment. Marvin Test Solutions designs and manufactures armament Test Equipment. Marvin Land Systems specializes in the design and build of power and thermal management systems. Our collaboration extends across a diverse array of programs and platforms, including major military prime contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.

 

SCOPE

The position requires a strong ability to team with multiple departments to implement improvement plans for better utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, manufacturing space and workflow, methods, and processes. In addition, develop production operation estimates, lead industrial engineering initiatives, perform capacity assessments, trend analysis and part level cost reduction projects in order to improve operational efficiencies and increase product flow while meeting required quality.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Study organization charts and various project information to determine functions and responsibilities of workers and work units to identify areas of inefficiency, waste, or duplication
  • Establish work measurement programs to analyze standards for labor
  • Analyze work force allocation, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, quality requirements, and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment
  • Collaborate with various departments to identify and recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials, time, labor, movement, and utilities such as revising work instructions, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and/or equipment, and/or the purchase of new equipment
  • Advise and confer with Management on proposed implementation plans and recommendations
  • Analyze lead times, queue times, work-in-process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently
  • Create new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance

 

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ or more years of aerospace or automotive engineering, manufacturing or data analysis experience
  • CPIM and TOC (nice to have)
  • Ability to work on manufacturing and/or assembly floor
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project)
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP software, preferably SAP
  • Green or Blackbelt in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement preferred
  • Working understanding of Project Management
  • Must be able to speak/read/write English
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to medium
  • Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments
  • Exposed to a combination of potential odors from chemicals and/or processes

SALARY RANGE
Base Salary Range (Inglewood only): $90,000 to $115,000
