TeamHealth is seeking a passionate and visionary pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) physician to lead our dynamic team at El Paso Children's Hospital as the facility medical director. This unique leadership opportunity also includes a faculty appointment with Texas Tech University, allowing you to shape the next generation of pediatric emergency physicians while delivering exceptional care to the children of El Paso.
Why El Paso Children's Hospital? El Paso Children's Hospital is a cutting-edge facility dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare. The facility features 122 hospital beds and a dedicated 13-bed emergency department (10 private rooms, including 1 resuscitation room and 2 isolation rooms).
Emergency Department Statistics: - Annual ED volume: 27,000 patients, with an average of 1.73 patients per hour
- 11% admission rate
- Medium acuity level
- Equipped with a helipad for emergency transport
- EMR system: Cerner
- Codes: part of the code team; physicians are expected to respond to codes anywhere in the hospital unless a critical patient requires immediate attention
- Nearest trauma center: University Medical Center
- Credentialing time: approximately 90 days
Staffing Details: - 24-hour physician coverage in the ED
- Advanced practice clinician coverage: 12-24 hours daily based on seasonal needs; winter months: 24 hours of APC coverage
Key Responsibilities: - Lead a team of skilled PEM clinicians dedicated to providing outstanding care
- Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation
- Oversee departmental operations, ensuring clinical and administrative excellence
- Engage in teaching and mentoring through your faculty appointment at Texas Tech University
- Advocate for the highest standards in pediatric emergency medicine
Qualifications: - Board certified in emergency medicine (ABEM/ABOEM) or pediatrics (ABP)
- Fellowship-trained in PEM
- Proven leadership experience with a commitment to excellence in care and education
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
