Since 1974, the School of Management (previously the School of Business) has pursued a unique mission of educating women to be exceptional leaders. Students are mentored by professors and apply classroom experience to internship opportunities during their course of study. They build networks within the business world of Boston and beyond among classmates, faculty, and internship colleagues. Job Summary: Simmons University School of Management is seeking an innovative and experienced Professor of Practice in Sports Management to lead the development of a dynamic sports management program. This position will focus on advancing gender equity in the sports industry, particularly within women's professional sports. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external partners to create women-centered courses that support both graduate and undergraduate students in their pursuit of careers in sports management.
Primary Responsibilities: The faculty member will have the opportunity to design and teach courses in Sports Management. The faculty member is expected to advise and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students, participate in curriculum development, and actively engage in service to the Simmons community.
Qualifications - Master's degree in Sports Management, Business of Sports, or a related field;
- Proven leadership experience in professional sports management, particularly in women's sports, with a strong focus on advancing gender equity;
- Substantial experience in teaching and curriculum development within higher education or corporate settings;
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of developing innovative programs that drive enrollment and market recognition;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders;
- Manage external partnerships and develop relationships with existing students, alumnae/i, and industry partners to foster enrollment growth and support career opportunities for students;
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in promoting gender equity in sports;
- Partner with the Director of Athletics and other internal partners to effectively communicate the value of a women-centered sports management education.
