Job Summary:

Intelletec Energy are supporting a successful maintenance and testing company to find a Snr Relay & Protection Technician. Your main responsibilities will be to commission, test, maintain, and repair complex protective relaying systems, metering, remote control, and data systems in substations. You’ll support retrofit, upgrade, and replacement projects for electrical controls, SCADA, DCS, and power system protection equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Testing & Commissioning:
• Test and commission electro-mechanical, numerical, and microprocessor-based protective relays and control devices.
• Perform function tests on overcurrent, directional, distance, impedance, sync check, loss of field, reverse power, and multifunction relays.
• Conduct differential and distance relay testing, as well as substation control circuit evaluations.
• Installation & Maintenance:
• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying systems, DFR equipment, SCADA, distribution automation systems, and related communications.
• Develop and document standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures.
• Communication & Reporting:
• Interpret technical documents and relay key information to management and customers.
• Prepare detailed test reports and work summaries.
• Assist in training service technicians on protective relay and control systems.

Qualifications:

• Experience & Education:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 8 years of on-the-job experience in power systems protection and controls, or equivalent military/technical training; or a 2–4 year degree in Engineering Technology with related experience.
• Skills & Physical Requirements:
• Proficient in interpreting technical documents and performing basic math related to AC/DC theory and trigonometry.
• Skilled in using computers (databases, spreadsheets, word processing, Outlook) and configuring relays with laptops.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work for extended periods.
• Certifications:
• Certifications such as AVO, NETA, NICET, or CDL are preferred but not required.
• Other Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Must pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and nationwide criminal background check.
