Summary The Test Driver - Engineering role involves managing and executing tire and vehicle testing primarily focused on ride and handling across North America. Key responsibilities include: 1. Test Management: Scheduling and overseeing tire vehicle tests at various proving grounds, including obtaining quotes, acquiring test vehicles and tires, and coordinating logistics. 2. Data Collection & Reporting: Collecting test data, creating detailed reports, and communicating results to the tire engineers for analysis and feedback. 3. Collaboration & Coordination: Working closely with other test drivers, tire engineers, and third-party test evaluators to ensure consistency in testing procedures, as well as improving data collection methods. 4. Logistical Support: Managing tire and wheel shipping, mounting, and coordination with KATC warehouse technicians. 5. Travel: Willingness to travel to various test sites across North America as required by the testing programs. This role requires strong organizational, data analysis, and communication skills, with a focus on ensuring effective tire testing and collaboration with multiple teams. Qualifications 1. Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a similar discipline. (4 years required) 2. Experience: Prior Test-Driving Experience: At least 3+ years of experience in vehicle testing, specifically in tire testing or ride and handling evaluations, ideally with exposure to automotive OEMs or related industries. Experience with Tire Testing: Prior experience in testing tires, including knowledge of test procedures, tire performance metrics, and tire evaluation protocols. Experience with Test Vehicles: Familiarity with acquiring, renting, or leasing test vehicles and wheels, and managing logistics related to vehicle and equipment coordination. Third-party Test Evaluation Experience: Experience in managing or coordinating testing activities with third-party test evaluators or third-party testing organizations. 3. Technical Skills: Data Collection and Analysis: Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and reporting test data, especially related to ride and handling evaluations. Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for creating reports, analyzing test data, and generating presentations. Tire Mounting and Shipping Knowledge: Familiarity with tire/wheel mounting equipment and the logistics of shipping tires and wheels for testing purposes. 4. Soft Skills and Personal Attributes: Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams (engineers, warehouse staff, test drivers) and external parties (third-party test evaluators). Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in collecting test data and ensuring the accuracy of reports. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and logistical details for various testing programs. Team Collaboration: Ability to work closely with other test drivers, tire engineers, and cross-functional teams to align on testing procedures and improve data collection processes. Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to identify issues in the testing process and recommend improvements to ensure efficient and accurate evaluations. 5. Additional Requirements: Willingness to Travel: Must be willing and able to travel to various proving grounds and testing locations across North America as needed, which may include remote areas or extended travel periods. Physical Stamina: Ability to endure long hours on test tracks and handle physically demanding aspects of tire testing and vehicle operation. Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety procedures related to vehicle testing and operating at proving grounds.
