Job Description
: This position The Vice President of Volunteer Services leads the agency's volunteer programs, ensuring that volunteer resources are aligned with agency goals. This position is responsible for the development, management and strategic direction of volunteer services, including recruitment, training, engagement and retention of volunteers.
Paid As: Salary, Exempt Full-Time Employee
Hours of Operation: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM Friday
Reports To: President and CEO
Supervisory: Volunteer department staff and volunteers
AGENCY EXPECTATION OF EMPLOYEE
- Maintain confidentiality of client, donor, volunteer, staff and board information.
- Support the mission, vision and goals of Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County.
- Represent Meals On Wheels in a professional manner at all times.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
- Required to pass criminal background check and have a free and clear MVR.
- Assist with meal delivery when volunteer callouts make it necessary for staff to deliver.
- Contribute to other projects when necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
- Develop and implement strategies for volunteer services to support the agency's mission and goals.
- Collaborate with other executive leadership to integrate volunteer efforts into the broader agency strategy.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics and outcomes related to volunteer programs.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and placement of volunteers, ensuring that they are equipped to contribute effectively.
- Maintain and manage the volunteer services budget and ensure efficient use of resources through policies and procedures to ensure a high-quality, consistent volunteer experience.
- Track and manage the timing report and volunteer hours to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
- Create and manage volunteer recognition programs to acknowledge contributions and enhance volunteer retention.
- Foster strong relationships with volunteers by maintaining regular communication, addressing concerns, and providing feedback.
- Organize volunteer-driven events, training sessions and community outreach efforts.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of volunteer services, ensuring smooth execution of activities.
- Supervise volunteer services staff, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Build, maintain and represent the agency at community events and other networking opportunities with external organizations, local communities and stakeholders to expand volunteer opportunities.
- Act as a liaison between volunteers, agency executives and Board members to communicate volunteer needs and feedback.
- Track and report on volunteer engagement metrics, program outcomes and overall volunteer impact.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership and Board members on volunteer program performance and opportunities for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Knowledge of volunteer management software and databases preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
REQUIREMENTS
- Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in volunteer management, nonprofit leadership, or related field.
- Office-based with occasional travel to community events or volunteer activities.
- May require evening or weekend hours for volunteer activities and events.
EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in developing and implementing volunteer programs and strategies.
- Ability to lead and manage a team of staff or volunteers, including experience in hiring, training, and providing mentorship.
- Working collaboratively with other departments (development, communications, programs) to integrate volunteer services into broader organizational strategies.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse volunteer base.
- High-level leadership position, preferably in the nonprofit sector, where the individual has had responsibility for shaping organizational strategy, decision-making and operations.
